Intro: Vibrant and timeless purse designs are always desirable. A wedding shopping or occasion is incomplete without a bride being seen in her statement worthy purse or clutch bags. Who says you do not need a purse when you are the bride. It is en vogue to tot around your purses in keeping with the varied wedding occasions. From elegant quilted purses, satin cocktail to box clutches, range of pouch, chained purse, batuas to potli, the knock-off purse trend is here to stay!  A bride’s purse invariably becomes the centre of attraction in any wedding; it perhaps becomes a part of her outlook. Some brides don’t prefer carrying a purse whereas some have very much importance for the purse. If a bride carries a purse it becomes easier for her to carry some vital things, which she may require during the wedding functions. Purses sure are a prominent part of a bride’s ensemble!

Bagful Of Booty

For obvious reasons, the bride cannot keep things in her hand and needs a purse. Even some stuff like tissue papers, lipstick, spectacles, compact powder, ID, extra bobby pins, mirror, pocket comb, perfume or mints might be needed to be carried by the bride for touch ups and for which she needs a handy clutch or purse. The bride must make sure that her purse is spacious enough to hold the mini essentials. Most importantly she can also keep her cell phone along in her flaunt-worthy wedding purse.

The style of purses that should be carried by the bride should have a matching or contrasting hue in keeping with the bridal attire and shoes.

Bag Rules

The bride must have her hands well-manicured and the purse should not take away from the beauty of her wedding ring.  Your bangles, hand cuff or hand jewelry must stand out, however let the bag not out-do any of it. Choose diamond, gold or glass bangles to adorn your hands which will beautify the hands and lend attention to the purses in hand. Make sure your glass bangles if any do not clash with the structure or the purse material. Golden, metallic, ivory, beige and champagne, claret red purses are ideal hues for bridal bags. You can also make you simple, basic solid colored clutch bag into a fancy item by adding a statement worthy, classic broach clip to it.

Box Clutch – These clutches are available in plethora of prints, materials (read wooden, silk/raw silk, satin, jute, sequin fabrics). They are spacious enough to stuff in your key chains, medium sized cell phone, lipstick and the works.! This is a clean winner on any given occasion during the wedding season.

Oversized clutch– These may appear to have been inspired by the over-sized bags, but in reality these are the need of the hour.

Metallic clutch/ Silver Clutch– The silver clutches have been around for over a decade now, while the metallic ones are fairly fresh in fashion. Flaunt your shiny side at the wedding party this winter season especially on your wedding, reception or cocktail.

Floral Print clutch– These purses look feminine and graceful with any kind of attire. Especially if you have a church wedding this one’s a must have!

Animal Print clutch– From the little girls to the mums, everyone seems to have gotten on to the animal print rage. Pick up animal prints in brown, olive and grey. Women seem to have found a friend in the wild prints and have be-friended them back home! Pick one for your fun hen party.

Smita Singh, Creative Director of Mirandola Designs suggests- “We are slowly seeing the Indian wedding market mature and start paying attention to details and intricacies. Thanks to the new and innovative destination wedding concepts and the exposure towards newer things.”

Smita further suggest a few purses to complete a woman’s wedding look:

Hindu Wedding: This completely new era take on Nani’s potli is refreshingly trendy and lovingly traditional at the same time. Made of textured embossed Italian leather in charming pink color with swarovski elements forming endearing pink flower patterns – this one suits a north Indian wedding to the T. Specially recommended to be worn with a blushing pink lehenga in traditional floral boota work.

Nikaah:  A classic gold celebration piece with rose as central motif; this one would go perfectly with the heavy gold jewelry and gold detailing on the trousseau of the bride. A bold statement piece made of heavy sold brass body embellished with crystals – this is fir for a queen; which is how the bride wearing it would be feeling on her Nikaah day.

Cocktail evening: The reception night after the wedding is a chic party affair. This chic trendy oblong clutch in italian leather with snake skin effect is embellished with multiple cross bands encrusted in swarovski elements. It would go well with a resplendent evening gown or fusion wedding lehenga.

Church wedding: The curvaceous body encrusted with Swarovski elements slowly moving from sky blue to crystal white makes this clutch a delightful complement to the wedding gown. It’s charming subtle elegance sits well in the somber church and in the elegant high brow sit down reception that follows.

Needless to say, that these effortlessly chic purses speak a language which only the most discerning connoisseurs understand.
