A mystery woman and two friends have done an incredible act at a toy store ahead of Christmas that left parents emotional and in shock.

Customers of a Queensland toy store were surprised and emotional to find their outstanding lay-bys had been paid off by a stranger.

The good Samaritan walked into the Mr Toys Toyworld store at Burleigh Waters last Thursday with two friends and paid off about 80 lay-bys worth more than $16,000.

The anonymous woman told staff to tell those customers it was the work of “Santa’s helpers”.

Employee Maddie Gillespie told the ABC the trio’s act of generosity left all the staff “speechless” and that their kindness did not end with the lay-bys.

She said they returned to the shop about an hour later and gave gift cards and chocolate to all the staff members.

Then, later that evening, the women came back a third time, chose one customer and walked around the store with him as he chose toys.

“They paid for his family‘s — what I’m assuming is — their entire Christmas shop … off the top of my head that was $3000-$4000,” Ms Gillespie said.

Staffer Rachael Thompson said parents were brought to tears by the act of generosity, whom she had to console.

“We wish she could know how grateful people are,” Ms Thompson said.
