Salman Khan beats Shah Rukh Khan; pays 32 cr as advance tax!

The start of the financial year also means the start of planning and investments. But, when it comes to Bollywood which has always been synonymous with big bucks, there’s also advance tax that the stars pay to the government, based on their incomes from all the sources. For starters, the term ‘advance tax’ refers to paying a part of your taxes before the end of the financial year.

Topping the list of advance tax payers for the year 2015-16 is none other than Bollywood’s ‘bhaijaan’ Salman Khan. With smash hit films like Prem Ratan Dhan Payo and Bajrangi Bhaijaan tucked under his belt, Salman Khan has emerged as the number one actor to pay highest advance tax for 2015-16 with Rs. 32 crore, while for last year, he had paid Rs. 26 crores. In a close second for this year is Akshay Kumar, who has paid advance tax of Rs. 30 crores for the year 2015-16, while he had paid Rs. 23 crores in the year 2014-15. On to the third slot is Ranbir Kapoor, who may not have had a great year at the box-office this year, but, he still continues to be every filmmaker and brand manager’s dream to work with. This year (2015-16) Ranbir Kapoor has paid Rs. 22.3 crores as compared to his payment of Rs. 19.7 crores for the year 2014-15.

Following him is Bollywood’s ‘baadshah’ Shah Rukh Khan who has paid Rs. 20 crores as advance tax for the year 2015-16, while he paid Rs. 32 crores for the year 2014-15. He is followed by Aamir Khan who has paid the advance tax of Rs. 19.6 crores for the year 2015-16, whereas, for the year 2014-15, he had paid Rs. 15.8 crores.

For this year, while Amitabh Bachchan (who was in the news for his alleged involvement in the controversial Panama papers) paid Rs. 17.5 crores as advance tax for the year 2015-16, whereas, he had paid Rs. 29.2 crores for the year 2014-15. Ajay Devgn, on the other hand, has paid Rs. 5 crores as advance tax for the year 2014-15, which is also the same amount that he had paid for the year 2014-15.

With her extremely successful Hollywood outing, Priyanka Chopra’s advance tax for the year 2015 -16 is Rs. 1.45 crores, while she had paid Rs. 2.46 crores for the year 2014-15.
