Over the years, she has emerged as a force to reckon with, both on and off the screen. Her interesting choices in films, have always set her apart from the pack – to some, she is the plucky, motormouth Nagma from Gangs of Wasseypur, to others, she is the low-key, yet oddly conflicted Devi from Masaan. And now, after having raged ruckus as Bholi Punjaban in the Farhan Akhtar-Ritesh Sidhwani-produced Fukrey, Richa Chadha is back in its sequel in her former avatar and promises to be “more badass than ever”.
In the wake of Fukrey Return’s release, the actor – in an exclusive interview with The Indian Telegraph – shared: “Bholi is out of jail and she wants revenge. And, she is willing to go to any extent to get what she wants. She is now more badass than ever.” Having said that, she went on to ponder over how exciting it would be if she had Choocha’s (played by Varun Sharma in the film) superpower. “I would not be so cute and naive as Choocha. I would go gambling and make tonnes of money at a casino. Bholi is smart, scheming, and intelligent, she would never make the same mistakes as the boys.”

However, in retrospect, Richa had almost lost out on the role due to some miscommunication. She was misinformed and misguided about the character by someone and it was not until she spoke to casting director Honey Tehran that things fell into place. “I’m glad Honey came to the rescue and connected me with Mrighdeep Singh Lamba (director) and Excel Entertainment (producers). Excel and I have a long association now and I love working with them,” she said. We, couldn’t be happier, of course!
Cautious about not giving up too much about the film, she also revealed that the “big” surprise awaiting us at the end of Fukrey Returns, has everything to do with the tiger, so-predominantly present in every promotional clip so far. We can’t wait, and it seems, neither can she! “I am really excited about Fukrey Returns being released overseas. It’s huge for us and would want everyone to go and watch the film,” she said. Addressing her fans in Sydney, Richa further added: “I have plans to visit Sydney next year. During my last trip to Australia, I visited Melbourne but missed out on Sydney, even though I really wanted to see the city. This time, I wouldn’t let that happen.”

The film is slated for a December 8 release and also stars Pulkit Samrat, Varun Sharma, Manjot Singh and Ms Chadha’s alleged love interest, Ali Fazal.
