The son of a Malayali father and Parsi mother, he grew up in Mumbai receiving a good education. He had to work extremely hard to reach where he is, simply because he was an outsider. Good looks is not enough to get you into Bollywood you need much much more. Modelling gave him recognition, however, for a person of ambition who never shied away from hard work, an acting career in Bollywood was a golden dream that needed to be fulfilled. After having starred in movies such as Jism, Paap, Dhoom, Water, Zinda, Taxi No. 9211, Kabul Express, New York, 7 Khoon Maaf, Dostana and special mentions for No Smoking and Madras Cafe, movie star John Abraham has shown that he is a capable actor, producer and businessman.
John Abraham came to attend a meet-and-greet event in Sydney on 18th November 2017 at Bowman Hall in Blacktown. The event was the brainchild and pet project of Sydney beauty professional, Shobna, who runs a very successful chain of Beauty Saloons called Indian Beauty Secrets . It was an evening that was not a run-of-the-mill Meet & Greet with the stars. Most meet and greets have a fairly steep ticket price where we us usually get a glimpse of the celebrity from a table far far away for a few minutes and a brush aside when you try and get close. This event was quite different in more than one way.
The event was to raise awareness and money for a noteworthy charity; Westmead Children’s Hospital and The Cancer Council of Australia. At the end of the event, Shobna and her team managed to raise $21,175 and presented a cheque to the representatives of Westmead Hospital and Cancer Council. A remarkable feat. And it’s no coincidence, since Shobna has been working since 2010 to raise money for Westmead Children’s hospital and John Abraham feels very passionately about cancer research since his father fought and survived cancer. Another noteworthy point about this event was the fact that every person attending the event got to meet John personally up close, have a quick chat and click a photo. Yes! each and every person who attended and wanted to have this memorabilia was given the opportunity. John went on to shake a leg on the popular song Main Tera Hero and the girls just went wild. If ever I needed to be evidence that the female voice can be used as a weapon of destruction then the high-pitched shrieks when John started dancing with one of the girls was enough to convince me. Most of the men remained silent spectators barring the MC and the bouncers who had to keep the fans at a respectable distance by exercising their vocal cords in generous decibels.
So what makes John so attractive barring the fact that he is an extremely good looking man? The answer from most attendees was the fact that John’s personality is unique, his humility, approachable nature, easy-to-talk-to demeanour and positive attitude makes him an extremely attractive star. So after a successful event what are the rows of satisfied fans waiting for, my guess is seconds. And who knows, John’s next movie PARMANU hits screens sometime early next year and we may just get to catch more than a glimpse of him in Sydney during that time.
