Prime Minister Narendra Modi could soon be seen in four cities across the world simultaneously. But in a wax avatar.
A wax statue of the Indian PM will be unveiled at the Madame Tussauds Museums in Singapore, London, Hong Kong and Bangkok on April 28.
Describing him as a “hugely important figure in world politics”, a team of the museum’s artists and experts had “measured” Modi at his residence in New Delhi earlier this year.
Modi, known for his oratory, appeared speechless when he met his lifesize wax avatar in the Capital.
“What can I say? As far as art is concerned, the Madame Tussauds team is exceptional at what they do. What Lord Brahma does normally is what the artists there are doing,” Modi said at the “meeting”.
According to reports, the wax figure of Modi — that has his hands folded in a “Namaste” and dressed in his signature cream jacket and a white kurta — took four months to create and cost £150,000 (Rs.1.5 crore) each.
Modi will soon be in the company of world leaders such as US President Barack Obama, British PM David Cameron, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French PM Francoise Hollande, in addition to Indian celebrities including Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan and cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar.
A wax statue of the Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal is also reportedly in the making.
Meanwhile, Twitter was set abuzz the moment pictures of Modi with his wax avatar emerged on social media. Some even pointed out the inanimate Modi avatar to be “younger, taller and fairer” than the real life PM.
