In Hindu religion, it is a common sight to see a devotee fall at the feet of his god to seek blessings. In cricket, this parlance extends to one particular cricketer.
Sachin Tendulkar is considered as a cricketing god by the millions of followers in India. His exploits, skills and numbers make him one of the greatest. He is revered as a cricketer, none more so than Yuvraj Singh, India’s dashing match-winner.
Following the conclusion of the game between Mumbai Indians’>Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad, Yuvraj came up to Tendulkar and touched the feet of the master blaster. This is not the first time Yuvraj has done this to Tendulkar.
During the Lord’s Bicentenary celebration match in July 2014, Yuvraj Singh represented the Rest of the World team while Sachin Tendulkar was captain of the Marylebone Cricket Club. Yuvraj blasted 132 off 134 balls but was dismissed by Tendulkar. As he was leaving the crease, he touched Tendulkar’s feet.
It was not a happy day for Mumbai Indians as they lost the match by 85 runs to Sunrisers Hyderabad. Yuvraj contributed with a 23-ball 39 on his 100th IPL game but the day was made sweeter as he got a chance to show his admiration to Tendulkar.
