Hon Bill Shorten, The Leader of Opposition, accompanied by Hon Michelle Rowland Shadow Minister for Multiculturalism and Citizenship and Senator and Senator Sam Dastyari , Parliamentary Secretary attended the Holi Mela in Blacktown.

He was mobbed the crowded and asked for photos to be taken with him.

Whilst addressing the crowd when he said Namaste, Satri ya Kal, Kem Cho and Vanakam the crowd ruptured into euphoria.

He further said “Thank you for inviting me to share in this magnificent celebration.And congratulations to the organisers who have worked so hard to make this event possible. ”

“In particular, Bikram Singh Cheema, Indu Takher, Nitin Madan and Ashish Kumar Kumar.”

“I acknowledge my outstanding parliamentary colleagues and your local champions – Michelle Rowland and Sam Dastyari.

“I also wish to acknowledge two good friends of mine who have helped introduce me to the great Indian community of Sydney: Harish Velji and Aisha Amjad

as well as.”
