Minister for Emergency Services David Elliott has congratulated 13 emergency services workers who received awards in today’s Australia Day Honours.
The recipients were honoured for their service, dedication and commitment to their local community as well as for service while on interstate and overseas deployments.
The Australian Fire Service Medal was awarded to four firefighters from Fire & Rescue NSW and seven from Rural Fire Service and the Emergency Services Medal was awarded to two members of the NSW Emergency Services and one NSW Volunteer Rescue Association member.
“To be acknowledged on Australia Day is one of the highest individual acknowledgements of service to our community,” Mr Elliott said.
“The NSW Government can’t thank our dedicated emergency services workers enough for what they do and this is a wonderful honour for these workers who dedicate their lives to assisting others.
“As we have seen this summer, NSW is no stranger to floods and fires and our emergency services are always ready to assist us during our times of greatest need.”
