Friends fear a man missing in Perth’s Swan River was struck by the propeller on his dinghy, as there was ‘a lot of blood in the water’.

Friends of a man who is missing after he was flung from his boat in Perth’s Swan River fear he was struck by the dinghy’s propeller.

Benjamin Prior, 30, fell overboard in Ascot just after 5pm on Tuesday.

He was the only occupant of the boat but friends were nearby.

“There was a lot of blood in the water,” Dan Roberts told The West Australian.

“We were just waiting for him to come back up but he never did.

“The propeller must have got him.”

Police searched the water and land extensively on Tuesday night, and the search is continuing on Wednesday.
