Apart from being a super important match, the clash between India and Pakistan was also keenly awaited to witness Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan rendering India’s National Anthem before the start.

And the moment turned out to be worth waiting for. Big B’s rendition of ‘Jana Gana Mana’ provided goosebumps to Indians world over. It was a moment when the nation stood still, which was followed by some huge number of reactions on social media.

However, the overwhelming emotions fizzled out a bit later on after social media posts about Big B having taken Rs 4 crore to croon the anthem started doing the rounds. A number of cricket and Bollywood fans were disappointed to hear this.

But, it seems now as if it was just a rumour. During an interaction with Anandbazar Patrika, Saurav Ganguly, India’s ex-captain and the head of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB), has confirmed that Bachchan hasn’t charged a penny for the gesture.

But that’s not all. Ganguly also said that the legendary actor also paid for his air tickets and stay at a hotel and spent Rs 30 lakhs from his own pocket. In fact, in the same report, Dada also went on to say that he had to beg Big B to take some amount but all in vain.
