Saroj Care Fundraiser Raises Money for Wheelchairs for Fiji

Saroj Care Inc fundraiser attracted over 250 people to its annual fundraiser.

The fundraiser was to raise $6,000 to purchase wheelchairs for the kids. A deposit for $6,000 have been made. These wheel chairs are coming manufactured in Perth and are hardy for rough terrains.

Last year first container lot of wheelchairs went to Fiji at the Colonial War Memorial Hospital in Suva.

Saroj Care apart from sending wheelchairs to Fiji donated $1500 Food Packs to Cyclone Winston victims in Fiji and three laptops were given to high achieving underprivileged students amongst other donations.

Saro Raj who is the president of the group explained the reasons and the need for forming the Saroj Care Inc.

The MC for the evening Sachin Sharma outlined how the money was spent from last year’s fundraiser and also thanked Fiji High Commissioner HE Yogesh Punja for meeting the cost of transporting the first container of wheelchairs to Fiji.

Hon Michelle Rowland who is the first person of Fiji heritage to be elected to the Federal Parliament and Member for Greenway , noted that how difficult it would for special needs people in Fiji when the recourse in Fiji are so few and especially aftermath of the Cyclone Winston where resources are stretched.

Harish Velji on behalf of the Saroj Care is working with Fiji High Commissioner in Canberra to transport and distribute these special wheelchairs for the kids. The wheelchairs will be accepted by the Ministry of health in Fiji who will also do the diustribution.
