Actress Vidya Balan, who is currently shooting for Sujoy Ghosh’s upcoming film TE3N, is having a gala time mastering her driving skills on the film’s sets.
Vidya Balan, along with the lead actors Amitabh Bachchan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, will be seen in a pivotal guest appearance in director Ribhu Dasgupta’s emotional thriller.
Vidya Balan essays the role of a police officer named Sarita Sarkar, who swings into action when an identical crime happens eight years later.
In one of the chase sequence to nap a murderer, Vidya’s character has to vend her way to different localities in the city of Kolkata. And for this, she is improving her driving skills to give what is required for her role.
Vidya, who knows how to drive, actually drove around the streets of Kolkata with Kahaani director Sujoy Ghosh as her driving instructor by her side.
“I know how to drive,” Vidya Balan said, “but I’ve never been a confident driver but for this film, I wanted to do it myself so I actually drove around Kolkata. Sujoy Ghosh was my driving instructor.”
Set in Kolkata, the film is about a crime that affects its three principal characters. Amitabh plays John Biswas, a grandfather in relentless pursuit of justice for eight years, while Nawazuddin Siddiqui plays Father Martin Das, whose life was changed forever by the same crime that claimed the life of John’s granddaughter.
TE3N is slated to release on June 10. It will clash at the box office with Irrfan Khan’s Madaari which is based on a real life incident.
