Technicians have never encountered the fault that caused a dramatic outage of the Australian stock exchange on Monday, a report on the incident reveals.
Exchange operator ASX says an “unprecedented” hardware malfunction resulted in its trading system not properly connecting to a backup database at its disaster recovery site, or DRS.
“At this stage, neither ASX nor its vendors can confirm having ever seen this malfunction before,” the company said in the report, and also confirmed it was cooperating with a review of the outage by the Australian Securities and Investments Commission.
