Ranveer Singh, Shahid Kapoor and Deepika Padukone’s Padmavati was announced a few weeks back, but the makers did not reveal when the movie will take off. A leading daily had revealed how Ranveer Singh would kick start Padmavati from November 01 and it’s true.
The movie finally went on floors today and we have proof. Shobha Sant, the CEO of Bhansali Productions revealed on Twitter, “#GanpatiBappaMorya! #Excited. #Nervous. #NewBeginning.” Ain’t that cool?
Ranveer Singh has been prepping since quite a while now, but finally Padmavati has taken off. Currently, the movie is being shot at Film City, Goregaon(Mumbai). Padmavati was supposed to take off from September itself, however after a lot of back and forth, the film has finally begun.
The delay, reportedly, occurred coz Eros pulled out at the last moment. Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali later brought Viacom 18 on board to produce the movie. In between, the reported fight between SLB and Ranveer over Shahid Kapoor also delayed the movie. Anyway, we are happy that the movie has finally taken off!
For his prep, Ranveer had taken inspiration from Hitler and Aamir Khan. Aamir always goes into hiding and gets into his role before starting a film and the Padmavati star has done the same thing.
Ranveer will play the tyrant ruler – Alauddin Khilji in the movie and to get deep into the psyche of the evil man, he has been reading books about Hitler’s psyche. Ranveer has to completely forget who he is before he can play Khilji. It’s an intense role and Ranveer has to completely transform himself.
As a source told DNA, “Ranveer is prepping his body language, mannerisms, diction and physique. He is holed up in his Goregaon apartment and has himself off from people. For many hours in the day, he transforms into Khilji working on his dialogues and diction.
From intense workouts, to reading, research and diction training, Ranveer is going the extra mile to become Alauddin Khilji. After Befikre, he had to build up a different kind of body for Padmavati which is more powerful and big built. He works out for almost three hours every day.
His benchmark to play this iconic, villainous historical character is very high; and therefore, this has become the toughest role that he has ever tackled!”
Earlier, it was thought that Deepika would kick start Padmavati with a dance number, however Ranveer has started it off. Padmavati follows the story of Alauddin’s love for Raja Raval Ratan Singh’s (Shahid Kapoor’s) wife Rani Padmavati (Deepika Padukone).
Reportedly, Aditi Rao Hydari will play Ranveer’s wife in the film – Kamala Devi in Padmavati. Well, we are super excited that he film has finally taken off. Aren’t you?
