Russell Island: Police shoot man on Queensland island

A person has died after being shot a number of occasions by police on an island in Queensland’s southeast.

The Courier Mail is reporting the person was shot after coming at officers with a weapon at 9.15am this morning.

Paramedics have been assessing the person for crucial accidents, however he later died.

A Queensland Police spokesman confirmed police had shot a person in an incident on the island positioned about 40km from Brisbane CBD.

“Simply earlier than 9am police have been known as to a disturbance on Ranora Ave,” he mentioned.

Seven Information has reported the person was armed with an axe, whereas a witness has instructed the Courier Mail the person had been smashing home windows and lit a hearth below his rented home earlier within the morning.

Footage from the scene confirmed detectives strolling across the property, with sections cordoned off by police tape.
