A person has been found dead following an explosion in Melbourne’s outer east overnight.
Emergency services were called to a Zerfas Street property in Scoresby about 9.30pm on Monday after reports of explosion.
When firefighters arrived they found a bungalow at the rear of the property engulfed in flames and worked quickly to bring the blaze under control and stop it spreading to neighbouring properties.
During a search of the bungalow a body was located.
Police said the deceased person was yet to be formally identified.
The cause of the fire is being investigated and an arson chemist is expected to visit the scene on Tuesday morning to determine if the fire was suspicious.
