A man has been treated in hospital after he was the victim of an alleged road rage attack in suburban Melbourne.
A Victorian man was taken to hospital for treatment after he was the victim of a shocking alleged road rage attack.
Police say the 22-year-old and his girlfriend were driving on the Princes Highway when a car pulled into oncoming traffic at Lauderdale Road at Narre Warren, southeast of Melbourne, about 3.40pm on Saturday.
The victim was forced to stop his car and he threw up his hands in frustration.
Both cars continued driving until traffic stopped just before the Narre Warren-Cranbourne Road intersection.
At that point, six men allegedly approached the man’s car and pulled him out, before they pushed him to the ground and began to punch and kick him.
“A number of witnesses have stopped and intervened. The offenders then left in two separate cars,” Victoria Police said.
The cars involved were a black Hyundai hatch and a red Ford Fairlane.
The victim, from Bairnsdale, was taken to hospital with swelling and cuts to his head.
Anyone with dashcam footage of the incident is asked to contact police.
