Apple is rumoured to refresh its Mac lineup in October, but there have been no announcements of an event yet. We are now in the second half of October, and Apple is presumably too preoccupied with its iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus launch in various countries, to think about another event. We were about to take previous reportage as just rumours and move on in life, when a fresh report arrived online, rekindling hopes of the much-awaited big refresh of the Mac lineup.

According to a Macotakara report, Apple has not abandoned its plans to launch the new MacBook Pro, and is very much going to launch them this month. In fact retailers will also get the new products by the end of this month. The report also refutes Apple’s plans to kill off the MacBook Air series, and claims that only the 11-inch variant will be ditched, while the 13-inch MacBook Air will continue to live.

As for the MacBook Pro, the report states that the refreshed variant will sport USB Type-C and Thunderbolt 3 ports. Apple is said to be ditching MagSafe connectors, as well as traditional USB and Thunderbolt 2 ports on the new MacBook Pro. If old reports are to be believed, the new MacBook Pro is said to bring in some significant updates, including an Oled panel replacing the function keys on the keyboard. The panel will be integrated with TouchID for enabling fingerprint access to the laptop.

Even the new MacBook Air will be seen with USB Type-C port connectivity. A 5K standalone monitor with integrated GPUs was earlier rumoured to be unveiled alongside the Mac lineup. Apple is said to be working with LG for bringing this product to reality. A tangible date for the unveiling of these products is unknown, but if this report is true, we expect Apple to send invites soon.
