Traffic is banked up for about 7km on the M1 Pacific Motorway north of Sydney after a multi-car crash, but lanes have reopened.

Northbound lanes of the M1 Pacific Motorway at Ourimbah, north of Sydney, have been reopened after a multi-car crash but traffic has banked up for about 7km.

Motorists already travelling north on the M1 were diverted via the Ourimbah off-ramp for about two hours.

Traffic remains heavy, so motorists should continue to allow extra travel time as congestion slowly eases, the NSW Transport Management Centre advised.
