Actress Taapsee Pannu, who has been receiving a rave response for the trailer of Pink, found motivation for her emotionally invigorating role in the forthcoming movie in a performance by international singer Lady Gaga.

In Pink, Taapsee plays the role of a girl who fights for justice for her and her friends. So while shooting for the movie, it was essential for her to have the feel and the pain required for the role. In order to cope with it, she found inspiration in Gaga’s act at the Academy Awards 2016.

Gaga had performed on her Oscar-nominated song “Till it happens to you”, which is based on campus rapes in the US. The popular singer had performed the song in the presence of sexual assault survivors. This evoked a strong emotion in Taapsee, and she would often watch the performance before heading to the film’s set.

Talking about it, Taapsee said in a statement: “This song was definitely something that helped me get into the mood before I performed difficult scenes in ‘Pink’. For someone who hasn’t gone through any such incident herself, it’s almost impossible to feel the pain of the victims, but music triggers your mind and emotions.

“So it definitely helped me to get into that zone.”

Pink, which revolves around three girls trapped in a criminal case, stars Amitabh Bachchan as a lawyer. Produced by Shoojit Sircar, it is directed by Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury.

Taapsee Pannu has been roped in for a film titled Meera, produced by Neeraj Pandey. After working in last year’s film Baby, the two will be teaming up for the film, directed by Shivam Nair. The story of the film revolves around Meera, the character essayed by Taapsee, and it reveals the back story of how she becomes a special agent.
