Katy Perry is roaring in the streets of Melbourne, where she’s playing her part in a major cricket tournament.

The superstar singer faces off with Australia’s cricketing champion Ellyse Perry in a mural celebrating “world’s most famous Perrys,” with both taking on vastly different roles in the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup.

Katy Perry will take the stage twice during the tournament, which is said to be the biggest women’s sporting event ever to be held Down Under.

On Thursday (Feb. 8), the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced the “Firework” singer will perform two songs during the March 8 final at the imposing, 100,000-capacity Melbourne Cricket Ground.

After the trophy presentations, she’ll deliver an hour-long post-match concert with her full band for her only performance in Australia on this trip.

The other Perry in the picture — Ellyse Perry — is the golden girl of Australian sport. A dual-international, Ellyse is the only Aussie to have appeared in both cricket and football World Cups.

Last year, she was crowned the ICC Cricketer of the Year in 2019 and she’s the linchpin for the Australia team which enters the 10-team tournament as defending champions.

“It’s very exciting to have someone like Katy Perry coming to play at the final and a bit surreal to be sharing a place with her on this mural,” Ellyse Perry commented Thursday as the mural was unveiled to the media.

“It’s a bit of fun that she shares the same name, so hopefully I can get her in one of my Australian shirts.”

Katy Perry last toured Australia in 2018 on the domestic leg of WITNESS: The Tour  On her Prismatic jaunt in 2014/15, Katy played 23 arena shows across the country.

On the  Australian charts, she has landed four No. 1 singles and 12 top five singles.

The street art was painted in central Melbourne’s Hosier Lane by local talent Tayla Broekman. Check it out below.
