Kapil Sharma Is The Most Followed Celeb On Instagram

4 million! Yes that’s the number of followers Kapil Sharma has on Instagram. Considering his fan base all across the world, this one doesn’t come as a shocker. But when compared to his counterparts on Indian television, the number does look formidable. I mean who could have thought that the lead of a long running show like Yeh Hai Mohabbatein or for that matter a popular show like Naagin would have less followers than the comedian.

In today’s digital age, the number of followers on a celeb’s social media account stands as a testament of not only the artist’s popularity but also his/her saleability. Earlier our celebrities’ popularity used to be gauged by perhaps the number of people running after their cars but today it’s the digital footprints that count. The fact that these celebrities, be it TV or Bollywood, commemorate their one million marks on Twitter and Instagram explains the ‘digital footprint’ phenomenon even better.

We were amused to know that our TV actors, who we see almost daily, are far behind Kapil when it comes to their followers on Instagram. The only actor who could come closest (with 1.4 million followers) to him is Shaheer Sheikh, who is currently loved for his role of Dev in Sony TV’s Kuch Rang Pyar Ke Aise Bhi. While he has a strong fan base in India, a part of Shaheer’s popularity will have to be attributed to his work in the Indonesian Film Industry. And what’s commendable is that he has achieved this following with a just 53 posts!

Taking the third spot is Roadies fame Rannvijay Singha with 1 million followers. It’s not very difficult to understand where he gets his fan following from. Being a presenter, film actor and a fitness enthusiast; the younger generation (which is also considered as the custodian of the social media scene in India) forms a huge chunk of his fan following.

Next in line is Karan Kundra with 933k followers. It’s a bit of a surprise as he doesn’t feature on any of the prime time shows on leading GECs. While’s he’s a part of Yeh Kaha Agaye Hum on And TV, it is the actor’s stint on reality shows be it Roadies, Splitsvilla or Gumrah End Of Innocence that is raking him more fans.

On the fifth position is three times reality show winner Prince Narula with 795k followers. I can’t help but bring it to your notice that it’s the television personalities from the non-fictional bracket that are winning this. We have come down to the 5th rank and none of the Ramans or the Prems have NOT appeared till now.

Arjun Bijlani, who has popular shows like Left Right Left, Miley Jab Hum Tum and Naagin to his credit, is sixth on the list with 741k followers. Yes it’s shocking that such a famous TV actor is coming so below in this list, but that’s how it is! It’s funny how Kapil Sharma is ahead of him in the followers race inspite of not being as active on Instagram as Arjun is. I mean Kapil just has some 139 posts while Arjun has over 1000 posts.

Last is Karan Patel with 460k followers. He is the male lead of all-time-TRP topper Yeh Hai Mohabbatein but is still last on this list.
