THE remaining 195 Australian Dick Smith stores will close by May 3.
Receivers Ferrier Hodgson have today released the full list of store closure dates, with stores closing from April 29 until May 3.
Last month, the receivers said each of the failed electronics retailer’s remaining stores in Australia and New Zealand would cease trading by April 30, but a few Australian stores will stay open for a few extra days.
Overall the collapse of the retail chain, which went into receivership on January 4 with hundreds of millions of dollars in debts, has resulted in the loss of 2890 jobs.
“We would like to thank the Dick Smith employees for their support during the receivership,” Ferrier Hodgson’s James Stewart said.
“This has been a difficult and uncertain time for them and we have really appreciated their assistance and commitment.”
All Australian and New Zealand entitlements, including annual and long-service leave, are expected to paid in full by mid-June, Ferrier Hodgson said.
The closure comes after the receivers failed to find a buyer for the chain. E-commerce entrepreneur Ruslan Kogan last month purchased Dick Smith’s intellectual property and online operations.ndia
