Creepy clown sighting has prompted police officers to warn the public against the scary behavior of the jesters. They also said that they won’t tolerate their illegal acts anymore.

In Australia and in some parts of the United States, it has been found that people dress up and pose like clowns and then stalk their targets on the streets. Such acts are not just pranks but might turn out to be dangerous for the population, a psychologist has revealed. It has become a trend these days for people to get a clown makeup and terrorize the public.

The Victorian police department said that it would not reveal the places where creepy clown sighting has been observed in Melbourne but they have warned people of having zero tolerance for antisocial behavior. “The clown purge appears to be a copycat of incidents being seen in the USA recently,” a Victoria police statement said.

There are several social media pages that have been dedicated to spreading awareness about the clown purge. Clinical and forensic psychologist Kirstin Bouse said that it was becoming dangerous to dress like a clown these days as people get involved in illegal and anti-social behavior. The sense of anonymity is giving such people a chance to commit big crimes without any fear of being recognized.

Bouse used the term coulrophobia for fear of clowns. “It’s a bit of a joke, a bit of a prank and they don’t realize that it can actually be quite frightening for some people,” Bouse said as quoted by the ABC. “Then there are others who I think actually enjoy the anonymity that it gives them because it enables them to safely engage in behavior they want to engage in with less likelihood of getting caught.”

The alleged Facebook page of the Melbourne Clown Association has warned the residents to remain alarmed and “be ready” to experience the fear of a creepy clown.
