Two men are now facing more serious charges following the death of a man who was allegedly struck during an altercation in inner Brisbane.

Shannon Finmore died in hospital this week following injuries sustained during a confrontation with two other men in Fortitude Valley on Tuesday, November 3, police allege.

They say the incident occurred just before 9pm on Water Street, and the 37-year-old consequently fell and hit his head on the ground.

Harley James Raithby Hoodless, 29, and Michael Trevor Royce Collins, 28, were briefly mentioned in Brisbane Magistrates Court last Wednesday morning following their arrest the night before.

However, Mr Finmore died this week and police have now charged the pair with unlawful striking, causing death.

Mr Collins is due to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on December 14, while Mr Hoodless is due to appear on January 18.

Mr Collins was granted bail by Magistrate Mark Nolan last week under orders that he reside at his Fortitude Valley address and report to police twice a week.

Mr Hoodless’s defence lawyer last week asked for an adjournment and ordered a brief of evidence. No application for bail was made.
