UNBELIEVABLE. The best ever. Incredible.

That’s the unanimous verdict from last night’s NRL grand final which produced one of the most dramatic finishes footy fans could have of dreamt of.

Broncos fans were left gutted, Cowboy fans rejoiced and everyone else just paid their respects to Johnathan Thurston and an amazing game.

Fans and pundits have deployed almost every imaginable superlative to describe the closing moments of the match.

Following the golden point final minute, messages began streaming in on Twitter and other social media as Australia reacted to the dramatic match.

The front page of Queensland’s The Courier Mail today depicts the jubilation felt by Cowboys players as their captain kicked them into the history books. But their emotions were in stark contrast to Broncos players, in particular Ben Hunt.

Hunt made the catastrophic error of failing to field the extra time kick-off and knocked the ball on in front of his own goal line. The mistake gave possession to the Cowboys right in front of the sticks and Thurston was able to take advantage with a game-winning dropgoal in the 82nd minute.

Hunt will no doubt be feeling devastated this morning, but if it’s any consolation for the young playmaker, many on Twitter were quick to offer their support.
