In the melodious voice of the popular singer Anup Jalota, a tribute to the King of Ghazals Jagjit Singh was organized at Parravilla Function Centre on Nov. 6th, 2016. It was a booked out show as many of Jagjit Singh and Anup Jalota lovers were present there.

The program started by showcasing the local singers’ talent. Anup started with a popular bhajan ‘Aisi Lagi Lagan, ’ and audience welcomed it with a big round of applause. They sang and clapped with him. Then Anup shared his story of how he got an opportunity to spend two days with Jagjitji in a concert before he passed away in Mumbai.

Anup Jalota started his tribute by singing Jagjit Singh’s famous nazm ‘Bat niklegi to phir door talak jaegi’ followed by ‘Bat chalne lagi, dil machalne lage’, ‘Sarakti jae hai rukh se naqab ahista-ahista’ ‘Kategi ye ab zindagi rote-2’ etc.

He sang ghazals , bhajans and even Punjabi song ‘Kurti mal-mal ki’ beautifully. He also sang some of the popular ghazals like ‘Aaj jane ki zid na karo’ and was accompanied by the local musicians. His voice has become more powerful, matured and versatile with the time and age.

Anup Jalota was honored as the ‘Bhajan Samrat’ of India. His divine singing touches bhajan lovers and classical singer’s soul.

His presentation in the concert was full of wit and humour, he made audience laugh, sing and dance during the concert. The show was a big success and a treat to the Sydney music lovers. Credit goes to the organizers Rakesh Major and the group for this sold out concert.
