5 Cool Places That Are Way Better Than Home To Work Remotely From

There was a time when we used to wish we could work from home more often. It would save us a leave of absence, all the trouble of commuting, getting stuck in traffic and a lot more hassle and still get our job done in the comfort of our homes.

Little did we know 2020 would make this dream a reality and we would be forced to work from home indefinitely.

Although it was a big relief and an interesting change in the beginning, after more than a year of working from home (working from bed, actually), I don’t think I would ever ask for a WFH from my boss. Why? Because it has gotten so boring and annoying.

Let’s not even talk about the back problems and eyesight issues that have gotten worse because of it.

Apart from the tea breaks with my colleagues and fun discussions in the meeting rooms, what I miss the most is getting up from bed, getting ready and heading off to a different place to work.

Also, at the end of the day, I would come back and jump on my couch because that was a space specifically for leisure and R&R. The line is now completely blurred.

If you feel the same way, here are 5 places away from home you can work remotely, until the office resumes. These are some chill places you can take your work to (with proper safety precautions, of course) and get out of the rut of WFH, at least for a while:

1. Cafes & Coffee Shops

A lot of freelance employees already think of cafes and coffee shops as the best place to work as you get caffeine, a snack and even free wifi at some places.

You can be around people, eat and start your work with a delicious cup of coffee.

2. Coworking Spaces

There are coworking spaces that you can book and get the same feel of that of an office if you are missing your desk, the sound of printers and meeting rooms.

Although a bit pricey, these places are buzzing with young professionals and are quite popular these days.

3. A Friend’s House

Why not get together with your work friends or your college squad at someone’s house, order some food online and make working from home actually fun?

Also, you can always rant about the pandemic, never-ending deadlines, bugging clients together just like old times.

4. A Local Library

If you spent your childhood in a local library, you will love working from one too. You can get the ambience, seriousness and silence to work in peace.

What’s more interesting is that you can take a short break from work by reading your favourite book while you are there.

5. Book An Airbnb

Think you cannot travel and work from the hills or with a beautiful sea view?

Now that most places have relaxed travel restrictions, you can book an Airbnb in another city or your own just to take a relaxing break from the same desk (or bed) at home.

You can also wind up early and explore other places in a different city or town.
