Soha Ali Khan and Kunal Khemmu enjoy a royal reception
On January 25, Soha Ali Khan, the youngest of the Pataudi siblings was hitched to actor Kunal Khemmu in a registered marriage ceremony at Fortune Heights, Soha’s residence in Bandra, a western Mumbai suburb. It was a quiet event that took place the presence of a registrar and only family members including Soha’s elder brother Saif Ali Khan, sister-in-law Kareena Kapoor, sister Saba and mother Sharmila Tagore. The bride and the groom looked stunning in matching gold attire.
The Pataudi family hosted a nawabi-style gathering for the newly married couple and while the marriage ceremony was an in-house affair, a host of celebrities attended the opulent reception held thereafter, and were warmly welcomed by Sharmila, Saif and Kareena.The bride was beautiful but Kareena looked ravishing, notching up another fashion high in glittering white and pink Manish Malhotra, while Saif topped off the aristocratic look with a blue bandhgala. Also present were Karisma Kapoor, her mother Babita, and good friends Amrita Arora, Malaika Arora Khan and Arpita Sharma. Saif ’s ex-wife Amrita Singh and their daughter Sara, who were absent at the wedding, weren’t a part of the reception either. His son Ibrahim, made an appearance, and was later sighted at the after-party.
Cricketer Yuvraj Singh, actors Sophie Choudry, Sandhya Mridul, Arshad Warsi and Gaurav Kapoor, filmmaker Karan Johar and Dia Mirza’s husband Sahil Sangha were among the celebrity guests.Soha, who believes that people need to have ‘a sense of commitment, maturity and infinite patience to make a marriage last’, finally got engaged to Kunal in Paris last year after a long romance. The couple met on the sets of the film ‘Dhoondte Reh Jaaoge’ in 2009 and were quoted as saying that they did
not think they were suited to be together, when they first met. Kunal was intimidated by Soha, an intellectual graduate from Oxford. Soha introduced Kunal to her mother for the first time on the sets of ‘99’, while he was doing a scene in a bathrobe. A fine way to meet his future mother in law! The couple have been living together for a long time and now that the relationship is ‘official,’ Soha and Kunal can move into their new apartment, a gift from Sharmila to the newly weds.Here’s wishing the happy couple all the best!
