Salman Khan’s Bharat to arrive on Eid 2019. Here’s everything to know about the film

Bharat, starring Salman Khan, an official adaptation of 2014 Korean film, ‘Ode to My Father’ which depicted modern Korean history from the 1950s to the present day through the life of an ordinary man. The film helmed by Ali Abbas Zafar will go on floors in April 2018.

The festival of Eid seems to be booked for Bollywood’s Dabangg Khan, Salman Khan. His last Eid release, Tubelight might have been panned by the critics and the audience alike, but the actor still feels the festival to be a lucky one for him. So, come Eid 2019 and the fans of Bhaijaan will be treated with his another film titled, ‘Bharat’ which is being helmed by filmmaker Ali Abbas Zafar and is produced by his brother-in-law, Atul Agnihotri. Salman has earlier delivered a hit with both Atul (Bodyguard) and Ali Abbas Zafar (Sultan). So, will the trio yet again create magic on the silver screen? Well, let’s wait and watch.
Bharat, an official adaptation of 2014 Korean film, ‘Ode to My Father’ which depicted modern Korean history from the 1950s to the present day through the life of an ordinary man and events such as the Hungnam Evacuation during the 1950 Korean War, the government’s decision to dispatch nurses and miners to West Germany in the ’60s and the Vietnam War, will go on the floors in April 2018. Talking about the movie producer Atul Agnihotri said, “It’s the journey of a country and also a person, both of whom go by the name of Bharat.” Adding about officially acquiring the rights of the Korean film for the remake, he added, “That film is just the starting point for ours but since it was an inspiration, we wanted in all fairness to officially own it and acquired the remake rights before going ahead with Bharat.”
Happy about teaming up with both Salman and Ali Abbas Zafar, Atul was all praises for the duo. “Ali is a friend, I love his work and eventually it’s all about connecting with the source. If you speak to him, you will realise that Ali is far more passionate about the material,” said the producer on signing Ali as the director for his next.

On Salman being the right choice to play the protagonist in Bharat, Atul insists it’s a decision taken from the heart. “It’s a character that I thought would resonate with him. It’s a huge responsibility making a film with Salman as there are big expectations that come with the job. I’m very conscious of Salman’s fan base and what they want. And once again, I’m convinced that being a family film it’s worthy of coming during the festive time. And anyway, an Eid release is always every producer’s preferred choice,” he added.
Revealing more about the movie, Atul said that the film will be shot at varied locations and also the casting will be done on the basis of the character requirement and not on the basis of big names. “We will be shooting in Abu Dhabi and Spain, besides Punjab and Delhi in India. Casting will be our main agenda over the next three months and since it’s a character-driven story, we will take actors who fit the part. It won’t be about getting names together but will be honest in its depiction,” Atul promised.
Before this, the cine fans will witness Salman’s magic in the theatres this December as he returns with Katrina Kaif in Tiger Zinda Hai. This one is also helmed by filmmaker Ali Abbas Zafar.
