Jaipur and Adelaide signs MoU on smart cities initiatives

Jaipur Development Authority and the City of Adelaide on 9 October 2017 signed an MOU on cooperation in the field of smart city initiatives. The MoU was signed at Adelaide by Mr. Vaibhav Galriya, Jaipur Development Commissioner and Mr. Mark Goldstone, CEO of Adelaide City Council in the presence of Hon. Zoe Bettison, MP, Minister for Communities and Social Inclusion, Social Housing, Status of Women, Ageing, Multicultural Affairs, Youth, and volunteers and Mr. B. Vanlalvawna, Consul General of India.

The MOU facilitates mutual cooperation in the field of smart city initiatives between Jaipur and Adelaide including in Lighting and other environmental initiatives; Tourism initiatives; Transport, traffic management and car parking systems; and Business and entrepreneur ecosystem support & empowerment. The MoU also provides for co-locating an ‘Adelaide – Jaipur Smart City Innovation Hub’ in the Centre for Excellence in Water Resources Planning and Management facility, Rajasthan.

It may be added that the MOU stemmed from the existing Sister State Agreement between Rajasthan and South Australia, which aims to foster mutually beneficial cooperation that will lead to increased trade and/or investment between the two jurisdictions including in the fields of Water and environment management, resource and energy, agri-business, food and wine, education, skills and training, tourism and sports.
