Harvey Weinstein Slapped at Arizona Eatery

Disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein was attacked while dining at a restaurant in Arizona, where he’s been receiving treatment at a rehab centre.

A video, published by TMZ, shows Weinstein stumbling after getting slapped in the face by a fellow patron, who also tells the producer “You’re such a piece of s— for what you did to these women.”

According to TMZ, the incident was sparked after Weinstein refused a request for a photo from the man, named Steve.

Steve told TMZ that “Weinstein became belligerent and told him to buzz off” – a claim denied by the restaurant’s manager who said Weinstein was “very sweet about it” and said “I’d rather not take a picture right now.”

As the two parties were leaving, Steve – who admitted to TMZ he’d had “quite a bit to drink” – said he asked a friend to grab his phone and record what was about to happen, leading to the attack.

Weinstein declined to report the incident to police before leaving the restaurant, TMZ says.

Weinstein checked into the rehab centre in Scottsdale, Arizona on October 11, just days after The New York Times published its expose detailing a string of sexual assault and misconduct allegations against the producer.

New York Post report, published in October, described the movie mogul’s time in the centre as a “joke”, with sources claiming he’d “fall asleep” in group therapy sessions and endlessly “bark into his mobile phone”, which was banned at the centre.

Weinstein is facing criminal charges over several allegations of sexual assault, but he has maintained all accusations of non-consensual sex are false.

The disgraced mogul was mocked at Monday’s #TimesUp-dominated Golden Globes, with host Seth Meyers joking Weinstein would likely return to the ceremony in 20 years to be the first person booed during the ‘In Memoriam’ segment.
