Bollywood is changing and so are the rules around actresses. Female stars no longer have a shelf life and pregnancy is no longer a deterrence.

There have been a lot of new moms in B-town over the last couple of years, who have set examples on how to be versatile moms to the hilt. On the occasion of Mother’s Day, The Indian Telegraph raises a toast to these supermoms.

Unlike her mother, Kareena Kapoor Khan did not stop working after her marriage, let alone after conceiving Taimur. She set an example by celebrating her motherhood sans any inhibitions. Be it her girls’ night-out or pre-natal yoga sessions or being the first pregnant guest at the controversial talk show, Koffee With Karan, this Begum has been ruling the roost. Kareena shot for films, ad shoots, walked the ramp and flaunted her baby bump, all throughout her pregnancy. She introduced the world to her baby on the very first day after giving birth. And now that Taimur is a little older, Kareena is back in shape, and set to show her acting histrionics soon in Veere Di Wedding.

This powerhouse of talent, now known as Rani ‘Mukherji’ Chopra, gave birth to her daughter Adira in the December of 2015. Rani went through the usual anxiety of a mom when she headed back to film sets after her daughter’s first birthday. The versatile actress makes sure her mother or her much-involved husband is taking care of their little angel when she is busy shooting for films. “It is a dilemma that every working mother goes through – you face a lot of anxiety when you leave your child and go to work. The child soon gets used to it. I am sure Adira will understand that both her parents leave home for work,” Rani had said in an interview after getting back on the sets.

Soha Ali Khan, rocked her baby bump all through her pregnancy and gave birth to daughter Inaaya Naumi Khemu in the September of 2017. The doting mom had been a yoga aficionado throughout her pregnancy; she even took to London on her babymoon and attended parties while leading a disciplined mommy-to-be ritual. She also authored a book on pregnancy and motherhood soon after her baby was born. “Kunal (Khemu) is extremely supportive. He stays up nights with me. If I feed her, he burps her. He plays with her, lulls her to sleep,” is how Soha described her experience in an interview.

Esha Deol Takhtani has been on cloud nine ever since she got pregnant. From lavish godh bharai parties to her babymoon to Greece to prepping up the nursery for the new addition to the family, Esha did it all with élan. Post delivery, she was quick to hit the gym to get back in shape. Now, she has started shooting for her next short film Cakewalk, in Kolkata. She even performed a solo Odissi number at a ceremony, just a few months after delivery. “Being a mother completes a woman and we women, gain a sort of magical confidence within us when we see our babies smiling at us. That’s when we feel we can achieve anything,” expressed Esha in an interview.
