QUEENSLAND police have issued an urgent amber alert to find an eight-month-old boy snatched by his 19-year-old mother on Thursday morning.

They say the baby boy could be at “significant risk”.

The teenager collected her son from a government facility in Brisbane’s south about 10.35am Thursday, to take him to a scheduled appointment.

The alarm was raised when they did not show up.

They have not been seen since and police say there are concerns for the child’s safety.

The 19-year-old is described as Aboriginal in appearance, 160cm tall and wearing a black and white striped dress.

The boy is also Aboriginal in appearance and was wearing a blue and green striped Bonds singlet and denim jeans.

He was taken from a care facility in Logan Road, Holland Park, about six kilometres south east of the Brisbane central business district.

Anyone who sees the mother and her son are urged to phone 131 564 with information or 000 in an emergency.

More to come.
